In an official notification, the UGC stated that from June 2024 onwards, the NET candidates will likely be declared eligible in three classes;
For admission to PhD with JRF and appointment as assistant professorFor admission to PhD with out JRF and appointment as assistant professorFor admission to the PhD programme solely and never for the award of JRF or appointment as assistant professor.
The results of UGC NET could be declared in percentile together with the marks obtained by a candidate to utilise the marks for admission to PhD.
The JRF-qualified college students are admitted into the PhD programme based mostly on an interview as per the UGC (Minimal Requirements and Procedures for Award of PhD Diploma) Laws, 2022. For college kids who qualify in classes 2 and three, 70 p.c weightage will likely be given to check scores and 30 p.c to the interview for admission to PhD programmes.
