Two arrested after gun and cash found in vehicle at M6 services

Two males have been arrested after police stopped a car at a service station on the M6.

Officers stopped the car on March 6 and searched it beneath the misuse of medication act – discovering round £7,000 in money and a blank-firing pistol.

A 26-year-old man, of no mounted abode, and a 28-year-old man from Portsmouth have been arrested on suspicion of cash laundering and possession of a firearm.

Each are presently in custody, police stated.

A spokesperson for police stated: “Operation Warrior is Lancashire Police’s response to tackling critical and organised crime in Lancashire and delivering on Police and Crime Commissioner Andrew Snowden’s Preventing Crime Plan precedence of disrupting and dismantling organised crime.
