A Preston metropolis centre church has been focused by thieves.

Anglican church St George the Martyr simply off Lune Avenue in George’s Highway has been broken throughout a break-in.
The donation field, situated behind the church which is grade-II listed, had cash taken from it in the course of the break-in which passed off in a single day between Friday 12 January and Saturday (13 January).

A spokesperson for the church stated: “It’s so discouraging to see a senseless act of vandalism comparable to this. We’re not a wealthy church flush with individuals. We function largely hand to mouth via beneficiant giving from the small and dedicated congregation. Our parish is in a chosen space of deprivation and we work exhausting to attempt to make a distinction within the metropolis centre.
“We shan’t permit this to divert our energies. We are going to proceed our work to probably the most needy and deprived in Preston for that’s what we’re known as to do and it should proceed.”
