A person was rushed to hospital after a severe collision this morning in Penwortham.

Police had been known as at 12.52am at present (28 March) to Golden Approach, Penwortham – close to to Liverpool Highway – to a report of a street visitors collision involving a Ford C-Max automotive and a bicycle each travelling within the course of Preston.

The bicycle owner, a person in his 40s, suffered severe accidents and was taken to hospital. Golden Approach was closed for a number of hours as a part of the police investigation and has now reopened.

Sgt Martin Kavanagh of Lancashire Police’s Highway Policing Unit, stated: “The bicycle owner suffered severe accidents and our ideas are with him as he undergoes therapy in hospital.
“If anybody witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from Golden Approach across the time it occurred, we ask you to contact police.”
