Mexican woman gets six years jail for smuggling meth, cocaine into B.C.

A girl from Mexico has been sentenced to 6 years in jail after border officers discovered three kilograms of meth and cocaine final spring in baggage at Abbotsford Worldwide Airport.

Canada Border Providers Company (CBSA) officers seized two kilos of methamphetamine and a kilo of cocaine stashed in a false facet of a suitcase throughout a search on March 29.

Martha Alvarado-Lopez was sentenced in late November on convictions of importing a managed substance and possession for the aim of trafficking.

“Border providers officers are extremely skilled in detecting hid contraband and are dedicated to defending the integrity of Canada’s borders,” stated Nina Patel, CBSA director of the Pacific area, in an announcement this week.

“This seizure and conviction exhibit the necessary partnership between the CBSA and the RCMP as we work collectively to maintain unlawful and harmful medication from coming into our communities.”

Between January and October, Pacific area officers with the CBSA made 6,389 seizures of unlawful narcotics, together with 7,900 kilos of meth and 239 kilos of cocaine.
